A Mother's Lovely Day!

Mother's Day began with a knock on the bedroom door and I awoke to the family bringing me breakfast in bed!  Think this was the first year I didn't hear them coming and have a chance to actually wake up beforehand.  I managed to collect myself and attempt to adjust the pillows so I could eat my meal - not an easy feat on a water bed!

It was a very nice breakfast of scrambled eggs, homemade waffles with strawberries and whip cream, coffee and orange-mango juice.  The service was top-notch presenting breakfast with a vase of freshly picked flowers and using our special red plate, on the back of which we have recorded every use since we've been married!

Cupcake enjoyed cuddling with me and opening my "birday cards" (Mother's Day was a foreign concept to her.  Logic follows if Mom's opening presents it must be her birthday...at least she's logical!)  I attempted to not spill the coffee with a toddler "helping me" - again, not easy to do on a water bed!

My son, gave me an additional plate of eggs and bacon that he had created.  He was very proud of himself.

Hard to believe that's all candy, huh?!  Hysterical!  We all enjoyed the treat later in the day.

Darliln' presented me with a most precious gift, probably my favorite Mother's Day gift ever!  A poem she had written and framed.  What a joy and treasure for me, especially during these teen years!  I'll end my post with the poem in its entirety, but be warned, ya may want to go get some tissues!

After a wonderful and uplifting church service we enjoyed a fantastic Chinese buffet.  Once our traditional Mother's Day photo op was over, Cupcake took a nap and the rest of us prepared for the arrival of Mom Mom and Pop Pop to continue the festivities.  We enjoyed a scrumptious steak dinner and relaxed the rest of the evening, both Mom Mom and I enjoying our Mother's Day immensely!

Hugs from Bud!

A Mother's Love

A mother's love is a special gift
Her love's unchanging; her love won't shift
Her caring smile will always uplift
This is a mother's love.

A mother's love brings peaceful sighs
As she rocks her baby and sings lullabies
She can wipe the tears and stop the cries
This is a mother's love.

A mother's love bring joyful smiles
Her children's happiness can be seen for miles
Her hugs and kisses leave marks for a while
This is  mother's love.

A mother's love teaches her child
She keeps them from being too loud or wild
The lessons she taught are forever filed
This is a mother's love.

A mother's love contains lots of fun
We'll joke and laugh 'til the day is done
We'll go on adventures under the sun
This is a mother's love

A mother's love is full of care
She tends the house and gives us our share
She takes care of us and will always be there
This is a mother's love.

A mother's love can be like a bear
Her protective presence is always there
She'll defend her cubs if the enemy dares
This is a mother's love.

A mother's love is patient and kind
She will listen to what's on your mind
No greater encouragement can you find
This is a mother's love.

A mother's love is also proud
About her kid' talents, she can be loud
Her large smile can be seen all around
This is a mother's love.

A mother's love is from the Lord
Her role is blessed in His word
As the Proverbs 31 woman you've heard
This is a mother's love.

A mother's love is a beautiful thing
Her love and laughter will forever ring
Her life reflects the love of Christ our King
This is a mother's love.
